Tutorial 4: Using Dynamic Fields and Environment Variables

Environment Variables are named values that can be substituted into fields within a project configuration.

Dynamic Fields let you specify fields for which the value is not fixed, but may vary on each encoding. Fields are made dynamic by specifying a question mark '?' for the value, and the Encoder GUI will create user input fields dynamically for these values. The Dynamic Fields feature is found in the Special Edition GUI only.

Use of dynamic fields avoids having to change project configurations to produce customised encodings, giving a simplified user interface and making encoding easier. As we'll see in the next tutorial, the Auto-Encoder also adapts when a project contains dynamic fields.
